Student Pick Up Procedure

Chaperones will begin enforcing our policy of having a single exit for students after practice. That means all students will exit the building by the front door (near the flag pole). This is also where drivers should line up to pick up their students.

This single exit enables the chaperones to keep our kids safe and ensures that no student is left alone on campus.

Since this protocol is designed for the safety of our children, we respectfully request that everyone follow it.

We appreciate all your help and support in keeping our kids safe.

Season Ticket Sales and Pick Up

If you have not purchased your Home Game Season Football Tickets, the last chance to purchase them will be this Friday night (July 31st) at the PBPA Meeting. The Season Ticket set is for all five home games and it is for a reserved seat in a prime location in the stadium.

This not only is a fundraiser for the band, it gives you an opportunity to support the band at half time from a reserved seat. The cost for the five game set is $60 and with that you can also purchase a parking pass for the cafeteria lot for $20. The parking pass is well worth the cost with the limited parking available at Pope.

If you would like to purchase a parking pass only or a second parking pass, there is a waiting list available that will be fulfilled based on a first-come basis. The cost of these parking passes will be $30. Please look for the table Friday night that is set up selling Season Football Tickets.

If you can not make it on Friday July 31st, please contact me and I will be happy to work out other arrangements with you.

If you have already purchased your tickets and or parking passes, I hope to have them in hand to distribute at the meeting on Friday July 31st. If this will not work for you please contact me ann we can make other arrangements for delivery.

Kroger and Publix gifts cards available

If you are looking for an easy way to help raise money for Pope Band without it costing you anything, try Kroger and/or Publix Gift cards.

Here’s what you need to do:

1) Buy Kroger or Publix gift cards from PBPA at face value ( $25, $50 or $100)

2) Buy groceries or gas at Kroger or groceries at Publix using the gift card

3) Feel good about supporting Pope Band

PBPA Georiga Dome Information

Have you been wondering why the band needs this fundraiser? Have you wondered what types of jobs are available? Have you wondered if training is required? Have you wondered how the band earns money? Have you wondered low long a shift is? Have you wondered if your student can work? Have you wondered how do I get there, what will I eat, what should I wear, etc.

WHY? The school system and your band fees only cover a portion of the band’s expenses. PBPA facilitates fundraisers throughout the year in order to supplement student activity fees and keep these fees lower for all participants. The Georgia Dome fundraiser is the band’s largest, and it’s the fastest way to make your $200 fundraising commitment and get your check back – just work 2 shifts! And if you’re looking for a way to raise funds in your student’s account, then this fundraiser is for you!

WHAT? During the 2009-2010 school year, we will be filling the roles of Suite Attendant, Suite Runner, and Dessert Cart staff. Suite attendants are responsible for preparing three to four executive suites, tending to the needs of the clients in the suites, and taking food from the suites to the pantry at the end of the event. Attendants are required to work at least five Falcons games. Runners assist attendants by bringing food & drink orders from the pantry to the suite. Dessert cart staff man a cart that serves desserts to clients in the executive suites. We are committed to staff eight of each position per event. We will all work the same length of time and will be working in the same physical area.

TRAINING. Job training is tentatively set for Sunday, August 9th, and Suite Attendant training is mandatory. If you even think you might want to work as a Suite Attendant, pencil in the August 9th date for training. Volunteers who would rather work as Suite Runners or Dessert Cart staff are encouraged to attend training also. If you’re new to the Dome, training will help you feel more comfortable. Alcohol Compliance Training is required for all volunteers who work at the Georgia Dome. Before you can work a shift, it is mandatory that this training be completed. More information will be coming via e-mail.

EARNINGS. For each shift worked, Levy Restaurants, the Georgia Dome’s restaurant management, makes a donation to PBPA. For each Suite Attendant, the donation amount earned is $100 or the attendant’s tips, whichever is greater. Suite Runners and Dessert Cart staff earn a donation amount of $100 per shift.

In case there are suite clients who do not tip, the total Suite Attendant donation amount for an event is pooled and split equally among attendants who worked that event. Suite Attendant training is mandatory and a larger commitment is required from Suite Attendants. As an incentive for Suite Attendants, 100% of the earnings for your fifth Falcon’s game will be deposited in your student’s account.

For any position worked, the first two regular shifts worked by a family will have 100% of the donation amount deposited into the band’s general fund. For any additional regular shifts worked by a family, 30% is deposited into the band’s general fund and 70% is deposited into the band student’s student account.

Registration Past Due !! Final Payment Due July 17th

If your student has not turned in his/her 2009-2010 registration packet and volunteer form, copies can be secured from the Pope Band Web Site at www.popeband.org .

The final payment for marching band is due Friday, July 17th.

Welcome to New Band Members

It is the new season! Rookie Camp is over. Sectionals have started. Every other Tuesday Rehearsals have started. Band Camp preparations are being made. New PBPA teams are forming. A lot has been happening. Registration information has been entered into a new program and will soon be made available to all via the band web site in the member section under band directory.

The Pope Band Web Site should become your new “best friend”. It is updated regularly by both the Directors and PBPA. The website’s address is: www.popeband.org

PBPA announcements will be sent to you on a regular basis. It is difficult at the beginning of a new season to get these emails out to all. The addresses are gleaned from the registration packets and volunteer information. Some registration packets and volunteer forms have not been submitted; others are not legible. PBPA asks that each of you check with your friends to see that they received this email. If not, please have them contact mawith7kids@comcast.net to correct the situation.

Special Message for Graduating Seniors

It is with sadness that we say good by to our graduating seniors and parents. You have been a part of an exciting program; we hope that it has been good for you and for your, now, young adult. We wish you, alumni parents and former students, the best of luck in your future endeavors. We will miss your talents and your willingness to serve!!!

A Pope High School Alumni Reunion is being planned for August 1, 2009. Alumni and Alumni Parents are all invited to meet at Pope High School.

Please spread the word to other Alumni and Alumni Parents. Watch the Pope Band Web Site for the details.

PBPA would like former parents and students to record their feelings about their band experiences. These may be used at the alumni reunion or as “recruiting stories” for future students. Please send them to mawith7kids@comcast.net .
